1.0 out of 5 stars Overrated and overpriced, May 8, 2010

I bought this replacement strainer basket because the collar that holds the stopper broke free of the strainer body. The new one broke the very same way in three months. I didn't buy a cheaper type of strainer because I wanted quality. I am very disappointed and I am going to find out if Kohler guarantees this product.

Stem became loose from the body of the strainer just like the one it replaced. This makes it impossible to change the unit from strainer to stopper. The difference is this new one happened in just a few weeks. Kohler needs to come up with a better way of attaching the stem to the strainer body. For what they charge for this strainer you'd think they, Kohler, would solve this problem.

1.0 out of 5 stars The O-Ring failed (sound familiar?), September 16, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase( What's this?)
This review is for the Vibrant Brass model.
Please do not buy this strainer: it has a serious design flaw. It looks great, but started to leak water down the drain after about 2 months of use: the sink drains in about 1 hour after filling. Within another month, it was no longer possible to fill the sink at all, as the water leaks out as fast as the faucet can fill it.

Look very carefully at the pictures of this strainer, particularly the plunger-like stopper part at the bottom which seals the sink drain.
See the little black line around the stopper? This is a black O-ring which fits into a shallow groove. This little thin O-ring is what seals the stopper into the sink drain basket to hold the water.

After 2 months, the O-Ring on the Vibrant Brass Bronze strainer became loose, making the sink leak water down the drain.
After 3 months, the O-ring slipped off altogether, and had a gap between it
and the metal that was large enough to... Read more
